Monolith

🇫🇷 Monolith fait référence à un dispositif scientifique : un bloc de matière tenu par des pinces est soumis à plusieurs rayons lumineux. Quand la lumière le touche, elle écrit dans la matière ; lorsque la lumière s’éteint, la trace disparait progressivement. La lumière va automatiquement se rallumer et une autre trace va apparaître et ainsi de suite. Cette installation questionne ce que pourrait être la photographie dans un état premier – une impression par la lumière – tout en la faisant sortir de son statut d’image fixe.

🇬🇧 Monolith is a scientific installation: a 4cm width block of matter is held with clamps and is lightened by multiple continuous lights that write within it. When the light turns off, the trace slowly disappear. The light will automatically turn on again and another trace will appear. This goes on in an endless loop. This installation questions what photography could be in a primary form – an imprint of light – while letting it be re-writable.
